His performing style combines all the elements of a theatrical blues musical and brings out the dancing where ever he shows up.
He normally starts with his tenor sax chops which are impressive and always get the audience moving.
He has won awards as you will hear in the podcast; but he is hard to define. He's a sax player but that's not enough of a description, he's a singer but again that really doesn't define him. I would have to say that in the genre of the old school blues musicians, he's a real bluesman. The total package, plays and sings the stories that make you believe, want to dance, or hold someone close.
Also very recognizable both visually and in his playing and singing, is the enormous amount of energy put into each song. This energy is visible on his face and excites the audience.
Here is Terry Hanck in his own words.
